Soil Pollution Is Just As Terrible As Air Pollution

Air pollution has been getting almost all of the attention but soil pollution is also a major problem. Soil pollution is a problem which is just as critical as air pollution. As soil pollution is in the ground, it isn’t that easy to detect. It is possible to conduct tests to ascertain the toxicity of the soil.
When water has become polluted, its run off may cause pollution of the soil. In the event it happens, plants won’t grow properly at all and you might not get any flowers or fruit production. Much of the food we eat these days has been impacted by soil pollution, and is not as healthy as it was previously. Also, without strong plants, flowers and trees growing around us, air pollution is worse, since they remove carbon monoxide from the air. Human oversight and negligence are the major causes to the soil pollution we have now. What has happened is leaky storage tanks loaded with chemical substances are buried in the ground thus leaking deadly chemicals into the soil. Sometimes, anything able to grow is killed, and not a thing is grown there for a long period of time.
Other pollutants get into the earth from lots of sources like landfill. For some time, trash would be dumped with wild abandon and no concern for the possible health effects. The water would collect the chemicals from the surface and soak into the soil. This would be bad enough if it stayed right there, but below the ground the water can go anywhere, taking the harsh chemicals with it. These days, many modern landfills are made to prevent chemicals from seeping into the ground and limiting certain garbage from being dumped there.
The use of pesticide sprays and the negative effects on soil and wildlife have been extensively recorded. There are lots of organizations that are seeking to convince the government to take actions to preserve the soil. With the surge in organic farming and tighter laws for some pesticides, there’s a chance that the soil quality is going to get better. Producers have had to initiate changes, such as using more things that are biodegradable. Of all countries on the planet, the United States has the most serious problem with soil pollution. Improvements in technological innovations and disregard for the environment are the major reasons of the polluted soil.
With more education, people are starting to be aware of soil pollution, and a few things are being done about it. Several programs in the country are discovering ways to reduce the soil pollution. It’s wonderful that everybody is now into organic gardening, and being more conscious about their health.
